Balamma with polio from Myadaneri village in Koppal district was assisted with remedial surgery, physio-therapy, mobility aid and was helped to learn tailoring through Samuha’s vocational training programme.
In 2007, she applied for the post of an Anganwadi Worker in her village, on grounds of gender, nativity and eligiblilty under the 5% disability reservation quota; however another able-bodied woman was appointed on political influence. Navashakti – Organisation for PWDs & Disability network sought justice through the court of law and Balamma was appointed as Anganwadi Worker in her own village.
