CBM's partner intervention in North East
Baptist Christian Hospital is a 130 bedded secondary hospital that exists to provide the highest possible quality of health care to the sonitpur, Nagaon, Darrang, Udalguri and Lakhimpur districts of Assam and the neighbouring state of Arunachal Pradesh.
In 2006 there was a huge epidemic of malaria in which almost 40% of all hospital deaths were due to malaria. In response to this needless loss of life due to a preventable and treatable disease a “Children focussed malaria control program’ was started in 2007 in Udalguri district of Assam, which was one of the worst affected by the scourge of malaria.

The strategy of the program was to see “children save other childrens lives”. 20 high schools, 27 primary schools and more than 50 villages were given awareness, preventive measures, prompt diagnosis and treatment through volunteers.
