Dr. Somervell Memorial Hospital is 80 km southwest of the capital Triuvandrum in Kerala; it is governed by the South Kerala Medical Mission and part of South Kerala Dioceses of the Church of South India.  In addition to the institution based eye, ear care and mental health services, the project has ventured into Community Based Rehabilitation for prevention of blindness, low vision and hearing impairment and treatment of eye, ENT and Psycho social disability.

A Multi-Disciplinary Clinic offers specialist services to all persons with disabilities under one roof. The project’s overall focuses covers health, education, socio-economic situation, and empowerment of persons with disabilities.  The projects objective is to improve PwDs access and entitlements in the community through comprehensive community based medical and psychosocial rehabilitation in the districts of Triuvandrum in Kerala and Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu by 2015.
